Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra performance

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra will have free performance on Sunday, April 7.

The event is free although donations are accepted. Attendees are encouraged to relax, listen, and enjoy music selections from light classical, show tunes and pop as they are played by talented and professional musicals.

The event will take place at Performing Arts Center and starts at 7:30 a.m.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Student artists in grades K-12 are invited to compete for a chance to exhibit their artwork at the 38th Annual Mainsail Art Festival.

The festival will take place on April 20-21, 2013 in downtown St. Petersburg. The Young at Art Student Competition has been a part of Mainsail for 11 years and is a juried exhibition open to all public and private school students in Pinellas County.

New library coming to St. Pete Beach

St. Pete Beach, Florida -- Although the city planned to renovate the library in three years, residents could see construction on a new building start much sooner.

The Pinellas Public Library Cooperative (PPLC) has traditionally offered construction grants, but the news that this year will be the last year for such grants has city staff planning ahead.

PTEC campuses host regional SkillsUSA competition this week

More than 500 students from Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties are expected to compete in the two-day SkillsUSA regional competition Feb. 6 - 7 at pTEC, Clearwater and St. Petersburg.

Students will compete in numerous categories including automotive service technology, cosmetology, welding, photography, and plumbing.
